Social media has become the way forward for our generation. You may be intimated by social media but using social media will get you connected. Find something that interests you and apply it to Facebook, Twitter and start your own blog.

Follow these steps to get the most form social media:

  1. Form a profile. The other people on the network obviously want to know who they are communicating with. Include a short biography and a picture.
  2. Before you are start chatting away, first get to know which topics other people are talking about. You don’t need to jump right into the conversation.
  3. Be real and honest. The whole point of an online community is that you share, help and network with each other.
  4. Launch yourself as a respected contributor. Being on a social network isn’t always about you. Share things with others and you will connect more.
  5. Always be yourself. Do not trick people into getting them to believe that you are who you aren’t. They will soon pick up on this and discard your profile.
  6. Try to keep your status as up-to-date as possible. Interact with others as much as you can.
  7. Do not choose anybody to be your friend. Choose people who have at the very least, the same interests as you.

When engaging in social networks, put effort into all your profile/blogs or twitter pages. Share things which you feel passionate about and connect with the social communities out there. Social media has become the tool we use to connect, enage and network. Use it to oyur advantage.
