Social marketing campaigns are all the rage these days. Why? Generating cost effective, qualified business leads is tough in this economy and with media changing so rapidly.

Whether your business is service-oriented (such as accounting, legal, architecture, business coaching, executive recruiter) or a retail store (specialty coffee, health food store, wine store), you have a huge new opportunity to compete with any size business in any market. Social media marketing is effective, and for the most part, free.

Business marketing strategies have never been more affordable and cost-effective than with today’s technology and new web 2.0 applications, like social media.

Many small businesses are experimenting with social media marketing, but do not implement a strategic approach to a campaign. Many are flailing from one new tactic to the other based on the “flavor of the day”.

3 SECRETS to success that we know work are:

Secret #1. Become an expert in your niche. Participate in communities that have your target prospects and add value to the discussion with your unique insights and knowledge. Use content that you create and give it away, free, to people who are looking for solutions your company provides.

Secret #2. Create a solid keyword strategy and USP. Also make sure you thread that through the various levels of your distributed content and the social web. You need to be aimed at “owning” the right market. You also need to leverage your strategy across all your social media efforts to nets your linking strategy across pages, articles, PR and your website.

Secret #3. Social media marketing needs to be implemented as a comprehensive strategy. All the pieces work together to combine into a powerful marketing program that is part SEO on steroids and part huge reach lead generation.

The key is having a systematic approach to providing valuable information and ideas to the right communities across the web. So, rather than interrupting customers in their tracks and trying to get attention, your targeted social web content will be considered helpful and put you and your business in an authoritative position with customers.

This is the primary “secret” to successful social media marketing—providing valuable free info to position article writers as authorities. You’re also in total control of creating your own authentic content. On the obverse side, giving people a “freebie” actually enhances cultivating trust, to enable easier and faster sales conversions down the line.

Take the time to develop a social media marketing strategy for your business today. Winners and losers in the “new normal” will be dependant on a company’s ability to adapt to these new marketing opportunities.

When you have a planned presence in these two social media sites, your best internet business ideas get the contacts very economically, i.e. when you write something once, the system handles the contacts and keep your presentation in front of the eyes of all other people.

1. The Key: Do It Once, But Do It Professionally!

This the rule. When you plan, what you write and how you write, the quality of the information stays on a high level. Thus your best internet business gets the maximum results from these two and hot social sites.

You will get help for your thinking from your internet business plan. Actually these sites should be a part of that, because what these are, they are the promotion mediums for your best internet business ideas and this means that you must do these promotions correctly.

2. Build Related Groups. They Are Crucial Ones.

There are some basic things, like the usage of the internet business keywords, but maybe the most important thing is to build or to join the related groups. These groups include people, who have the same interests, than you have.

So when they click your link and enter your best internet business ideas site, it is obvious that they will buy something. However, these groups are mostly for brand building through the useful posts.

This is key. So you have to be present often enough and to try to help people with useful tips. In this respect, these sites do not differ from the marketing forums. The biggest difference comes from the fact, that there is a lot more potential in the social sites.

3. Twitter Is Quicker, Facebook Has More Content.

Yes, Twitter offers a real quick way to share information and to give response to others. This you have to take into account, when you plan the usage of this medium to promote your best internet business ideas. In Facebook you can write more content and it is somehow more serious way to share it.

4. You Can Establish A Customer Care Center On Facebook Or Twitter.

If you run your best internet business ideas like me, you are the only worker. This means that the time and energy is limited and you have to use it wisely. What is more effective, than to make the social sites to do it for you.

For instance most prospects and customers have the same questions about your internet business. So you can easily establish a group and to share the questions and answers there. What is even better is, that people can help each other.

This is important, because usually people want the answers quickly and when these sites work all the time without breaks, people from different time zones can get the responses almost in real time. And, these question and answer groups are a very effective way for the marketing of your best internet business ideas.

Chiropractic internet marketing with social media has gained a great deal of traction in the last year among chiropractors looking to marketing their clinics online in 2009 and beyond. Many doctors are seeing the benefits early on of building relationships in their community with social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. These relatively new forms of communication have ushered in a new era of chiropractic marketing, extending the doctors presence into the virtual realm.

Perhaps the most important thing to consider when utilizing web 2.0 or social media in a chiropractic internet marketing campaign, is the fact that it’s more about relationship building than anything else. Getting your audience to know, like, and trust you goes a long way and will make the most impact. Focus your attention on them and, in return, they’ll focus more on you.

So, what’s one of the most powerful ways to build relationships on social media outlets? Listening to what your local audience has to say is a great start. It might not seem like traditional chiropractic marketing, but folks want to know that their voice counts! Facebook, for example, has a “like” feature that basically tells your online friend that you are in fact listening to their posts and comments. Don’t underestimate this simple tactic.

Think of how you like to be treated. Do you like to receive compliments? Of course! So, why not give others compliments on social media based websites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Myspace, Friendfeed, and such? This is a very indirect form of chiropractic internet marketing but it works very well. Don’t be shy and afraid to tell someone that you like what they are doing or the messages they are putting out.

When possible, post inspirational quotes that others will feel compelled to share with their friends. This can get you known very quickly in your local community as someone that’s trying to consistently uplift others. This is just another way of spreading value but is indirect chiropractic marketing, too. You can Google inspirational quotes to get a list to post periodically.

This type of chiropractic internet marketing is very subtle yet people are continuously coming back to your page for more information, which in turn, is getting your more exposure. Take this tips and implement them today and you’ll see your influence rise and potential new patients contacting you.

Last night as I was surfing around on Twitter and doing some reverse engineering, I ran across at least three accounts that were marketing chiropractic services to others locally. The problem was what they were doing in regards to their chiropractic marketing was blatant spam! What these chiropractors don’t understand is that they are actually doing more harm than good. Here’s why….

These doctors were giving the exact same automated reply to everyone on their friends list with certain types of pain-based conditions. When you begin to give automated replies in your regular posts, everyone who comes to that page is seeing 10-20 posts that are exactly the same. This is not a good thing to do in your chiropractic marketing endeavors for a few reasons.

First, a potential Twitter user in your local area that may come across your profile will see that you are giving “canned” replies to everyone. Do you think they will want to be your friend if you aren’t showing a personal side? What would you think if someone was marketing chiropractic this way? The purpose of social media is to, well, be social. I don’t think having a profile like that sets the stage for quality social interaction.

Remember that first impressions carry a great deal of weight in a potential new patients mind so you want to get off on the right foot from the get-go. Chiropractic marketing on all social media outlets has to be very indirect. You have to give folks the idea that you actually care what they have to say, as they are real people. Scripting and automation totally has a place, but in the example I just mentioned, it will end-up backfiring as you can’t build relationships this way.

Another reason that marketing chiropractic in this fashion could be a potential disaster is that you risk getting kicked off social networks. Sites like Twitter, Facebook, Friendfeed, and LinkedIn can always tell if you’re trying to game the system. Imagine having a group of friends or followers on one of these sites and you get deleted. Ouch! What will that message say to them when try and access your profile but they get an ugly message from the network.

There is a time and place for chiropractic marketing online via social media. It just has to be way more subtle that what I’ve been discussing here. Look, we all want new patients knocking our doors down, but it’s important to remember that you must create value to build trust first. Keeping this in mind when thinking of marketing chiropractic online will save you from looking like a spammer.

When marketing on the Internet, it helps to have a great story and something that interests people. It is best to find something people already like and capitalize on that. This is especially true if you are looking for work from home ideas.

Once you have an idea of what people want, go with a new point of view on that idea. Promote it by finding out where people who like that idea live or get together. Let those people learn about your idea and learn how they can buy or use your idea.

One way to do this is take an idea that already works but re-package it. It helps if the people who like this idea, product, or service do not have to do anything (or much) to learn a new way to enjoy this idea. If they have a big learning curve or need to adapt their lifestyle, they may not be willing to buy your new idea. Keep what you are planning as close to the original idea as you can.

Several years ago someone came up with the idea that golf could be virtual. Yes, I can remember in the 1980s in New England playing virtual golf in the winter at a local golfers warehouse. There was a screen with the golf course projected on it. You hit the ball into the screen and the system projected where the shot would land. One of the fun parts was being able to hit the ball through trees! If the ball went into the water or out of bounds, you did receive a penalty and the rest of the rules of golf applied (as much as they could). There was a small area to putt and you manually entered the putts into the system (on your honor or the watchful eye of your opponent).

That was a way for people who already liked to play golf to continue playing even when the weather was bad. You can apply a similar idea when marketing on the Internet. Put a new way of looking at something into your Internet marketing strategies.

It seems virtual golf is making the rounds again but for a different reason than weather. Money and time can be a powerful influence. In South Korea, golf is very expensive and the local golf courses are always full. Virtual golf gives those who want to enjoy the benefits of golf the opportunity to play even if it is virtual.

Notice how this idea follows some of the points that were made earlier. The virtual golf does not require the player to learn a new way to play golf, just a new environment. The player still uses the skills they already have (or wish they had) and they even use the same equipment. They only have to adjust to the way the game reads the results of their shot. Having played this way myself, the adjustment is not difficult even if you don’t like the results. The rules of golf do not change, but virtual golf has some exceptions that are easy to understand and implement.

Take a tip from these people, if you want some work from home ideas and you think marketing on the Internet is the way to go, do something people already like but do it differently. Just make sure your way is easy for them to use or acquire or is better for them in some way. Once people learn about what you have done, word of mouth and good marketing skills will really pay off.

Go to the blog Sea Island Marketing for a link to a video about this idea.

Now that you have an account, have done some following and have some followers it’s time to contribute and meet some new people. (Note, for the first few weeks I suggest following people in your niche or interested in your niche so that you build a base of people to build relationships with.)

The whole follow people and get followed back practice, in mass, was not very appealing to me before but I now mix up the techniques that I use to get followers. We will chat more about that later. Today it is all content.

When I began tweeting I was posting about myself and my own business. I would just post some of the tasks that I performed for my business that day. Maybe 6 to 12 Tweets per day. Then I began posting some of my favorite quotes. I usually scheduled all of my quotes for the week on Sunday night. I was sending 2 to 3 quotes a day when I started.

I realized that I was earning a lot more followers by posting famour quotes than I had been gaining by Tweeting about myself. I knew people were now finding value in my posts because my followers growing like never before. The more valuable the information I Tweeted the more people retweeted my posts and the more followers I gained.

As I learned more and more about Twitter posting good content I posted more and more quotes for a few months. So I began to Tweet about my favorite blog posts from other bloggers. Once I began tweeting links my interaction really stepped it up a level. I have always used Googe Alerts to track my favorite topics and keywords related to my online businesses. So I began to put Google Alerts to work.

Each morning I would read through all of my Google Alerts and post links to the most compelling and valuable content. I was using Tweetlater to schedule all of these excellent stories and was earning more followers than earning before].

When I realized that posting to my favorite content was working I decided to begin Tweeting about my own content. As my original blog content grew and grew the more I posted linked to my own site. And the more often I blogged the more Twitter followers I got and the more readers I acquired for my blog.

So I was experimenting with content and began finding out what drove the most visitors to my blog and what got the most interest from my new found Twitter community.

Today, a poll written by TotalBeauty.com spread across the internet. It contained a list of which cities had “the ugliest men in America”. We’re not condoning this sort of report, but it does come in useful as a case study for how to get attention to your website. CNN ended up picking up the story and sharing it with the nation. Now THAT is definitely some attention. Let’s see how this applies to building SEO backlinks.

Your business marketing campaign has a limited amount of capital, both monetary and time-wise. This means that you need to maximize the efficiency of the effort that you put into your marketing campaigns. Your lead generation is dependent on how adaptive your marketing strategy is to customer demand and market trends, but your business plan depends on long-term, concrete marketing goals. How do you find a happy medium? The trick is to finding what sort of lead generation activities provide the best return on the amount of time or money spent on these endeavors.

In regards to SEO, this means maximizing the efficiency of your time spent on link building. You can go the manual route and painstakingly call, email, and contact other high ranking website for keywords and keyphrases for which you are looking to build relevancy. Depending on what your online marketing campaigns look like, sometimes that really is the only way to go.

For small businesses like home improvement and Rebath, there just isn’t enough time in the day to foster lead generation via manual link building SEO strategies. That’s okay, because you don’t have to! Just stick to what you’re good at, and whip up a quick article about what you know.

If you just got through a Rebath or home improvement project where you su ccessfully battled a common mold problem, why not take a couple of hours to share your success story? In doing so, you can build just as many quality SEO backlinks without having to trudge through directories and beg people to link back to your site. If you share interesting and notable content, soon enough people will build your backlinks for you.

Keep in mind that all these SEO strategies are centered around what you’re already doing, and the only difference is throwing in some documentation and marketing panache.

Don’t waste your time and money by doing things the hard way. Stick to what your doing and share your successes with the world. You can build a good foundation for a successfully online marketing campaign with just that, and that will start you along the path for great lead generation.

Building a support base with Twitter is easy. The best way to experience this is to sign up for a free account and start ‘following’ people of interest. Twitter’s widely acknolweged but unwritten etiquette infers that it’s fine to ‘follow’ people you don’t know. They can choose whether or not to follow you back – and, in my experience, people will almost always follow a good cause.

The next step is to consider what you’re going to do with your followers. Twitter presents unrivalled opporunities for building brand awareness. Posting once or twice a day will get your message in front of your followers. Make that message interesting, informative and even evocative – and your followers will re-tweet and discuss them, driving more followers towards you.

If building brand awareness with Twitter is as simple as posting once or twice a day, consider what’s possible with a bit of work. The miracle of Twitter – and the trick to successfully turning your Twitter following into a loyal support base – is to engage with your followers on a personal level. Charities doing this effectively include Greenpeace, The National Trust and the RSPB.

Once you have an established support base, the possibilities are endless.

Fronting a cause which is not known about? Testicular cancer would have been a case-in-point a few years ago. Twitter enables you to quickly and effectively raise awareness.

Promoting an event? Twitter offers a fast, free and effective way to get details in front of thousands of supporters.

Need to instantly gauge public reaction to something? Twitter has the answer! Pose the question and have real-world answers flooding in within minutes.

High profile support and/or comment? Water Aid used Twitter to direct the following question at Nick Clegg.

One final use of Twitter – although I couldn’t find an example – is as a means of providing your services. Dogsblog use Twitter to inform their followers every time a new dog comes up for adoption, but a debt charity – for example – could use the service to provide specific advice to individuals.

LinkedIn is the professional person’s Facebook, introducing new business connections, efficiently displaying profiles and acting as a forum for recommendations, recruitments and liaisons. Essentially a social media tool, LinkedIn isn’t only useful on an individual scale. Offering company profiles and related groups, it can form part of an integrated social media campaign that supports your sales process and customer service, resulting in improved customer retention and sales

Tips to using LinkedIn for your business’s success

You don’t need to be a computer whizz to complete your LinkedIn profile and ensure that your URL reflects your company’s name. These are simple, search-engine friendly steps that basically act as an online CV, and help to connect your name with relevant keywords online. But you can take this a few steps further:

Be active with your profile: Make connections with current and former colleagues, clients and friends, and make useful industry contacts. While doing so, ensure that your profile is publicly available, and that your internal links can be indexed. Don’t hand out trade secrets, but leverage the dynamic content that social media naturally creates. Once you’ve established connections, request and make recommendations, and remember at all times to maintain your professionalism.

Register your company’s profile: Create your company’s listing and add applications updating news, events, polls and blogs. Encourage your employees to create individual profiles and ensure that their entries are up-to-date.

Become an alpha user: Join and create LinkedIn groups where similar industry professionals gather online. Add value to your profile and to your contacts through bookmarks, reading lists and slideshares. Use LinkedIn Answers, which is a forum for professionals to post questions and answers, and build up your reputation in your industry. In this way, you can also gather internal links pointing to your profile within LinkedIn.

Write efficient content: Your profile tags and descriptions allow for optimisation (within reason), and LinkedIn users search for keywords within profiles. Use descriptions, adjectives and professional language – avoiding jargon – to enliven your profile. Always review for grammar and punctuation errors, or better yet, ask a trusted friend to check it for you.

What are the benefits of using LinkedIn for business?

Because LinkedIn has high-quality content that often updates more quickly than websites do, its pages appear in ranking results for popular keywords. This is one of the reasons that there are 52 000 product managers on LinkedIn working every day to push their products to the top of search engine results pages. Through LinkedIn, you can also perform reference checks on individuals and companies on a financial or personal level. LinkedIn also offers hopeful interviewees preparation for interviews, and recruiters can evaluate references. Investors can track the growth of start-ups and establish a company’s financial health by reading the rate of turnover and whether key people are leaving the company.

LinkedIn connections mean business

In today’s pressurised economy, social media networks such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook are additional channels through which businesses reach out to people. But good business is also about leveraging opportunities. According to blogger Guy Kawasaki, people with more than 20 connections on LinkedIn are 34 times more likely to be approached with a job opportunity than people with less than five. How many connections do you have?

Twitter marketing is one of the best methods that any online marketer can employ to earn money from the convenience of their own home. This way of getting your message to the masses can be utilized by those who are younger or older or male or female. This article will show you 2 very simple ways in which you can put the power of this online phenomenon to work in your own home based business.

An easy thing for most people to do is to focus on what is currently a hot topic in the mainstream media. For example, the World Series is one of the hottest topics in the nation at this time. If you simply do a search on Twitter.com for the phrase “World Series,” you will find a large number of results for that particular phrase. You just need to go through all of the entries that come up for that term, and add the people who have tweeted about that event to your friends. As a word of caution, you do want to be wise about how you build so as not to make the powers that be at this popular social media site angry.

The goal is to build your list of friends so that you can market to these people at a later time. In the world of social media marketing, you have access to an enormous number of people. Once you have added a certain number of followers, a certain percentage of those individuals followers will also follow you. I am certain you can see that you can build a very strong network with this type of available set up. It can be very lucrative to target a product towards people who already want what you have as a service.

Being an affiliate for a product that promotes baseball or the World Series Championship in October and November can put a great deal of dollars in your pocket. Set a goal of how many people you want to follow per day. A safe number is 50 people per day. You must also factor in that a number of these people or businesses will not follow you back, or may even stop being your follower. However, averaging 30 followers per day for 20 days will give you a total of 600 followers, all having somewhat of an interest in the Championship of Major League Baseball.

The final factor that all Twitter marketers should remember is the importance of relationship building. This can be accomplished by giving your followers something of value that you believe will interest them about baseball or sports. You can send tweets about the actual game that you saw last night, your opinion of the national anthem, or how great it was to see Yogi Berra walk with the first lady to the pitcher’s mound to greet a man with one arm. Being a friend to someone will go a long way in the both the offline and online world in which we make our homes. Having these followers as your friend will make it much easier to sell these people something when you let them know about a sports-related affiliate product or CPA offer.

In the end, Twitter can be a huge goldmine for anyone that decides to put its power to use. You can develop a large network, build quality relationships, and market to these people all at no cost to you. All that twitters may not be gold, but sometimes it sure seems to appear that way.
